All Rubis conversations content is encrypted with strong encryption on the sender’s device and is only decrypted on the recipient’s device (also known as end-to-end encryption). 

Direct requests from foreign authorities cannot be granted, instead foreign authorities must make an official request for legal assistance in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on International Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters through Swiss authorities.

According to Article 22 (3) and Article 27 BÜPF Rubis has to provide available information upon judicial order. Rubis does not respond to inquiries by foreign authorities. All foreign authorities have to make an official request for legal assistance in accordance with the Federal Act on International Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. Inquiries will only be processed by Rubis if they have been submitted via the PTSS and if they fully meet the formal requirements upon legal review (Article 26 paragraph 2 VÜPF).
